June Favourites (B)

Hi Guys,
So June has been such a busy month for me and surprisingly I didn't purchase that much, or I didn't purchase that many items that I love and believe should be included in my June favourites.

I have 2 items of clothing, 1 cosmetic item and 1 accessory for my June favourites, just a short and sweet post.

Although both of these items may not be seen as a "Summer" item, they are my favourite clothing purchase's of June. I found last year that high waisted jeans were incredibly hard to find and purchase when I was in need of them the most, so although these jeans could look lovely with a floaty top or a crop top in the Summer, I have a  feeling they will also become a Winter essential for me. The material also has enough stretch for  comfortable movement throughout the day. They are Jamie Moto High Waisted Jeans from TopShop.

The chunky heel ankle boots were £69.99 from Pavers, they are not something that I would go looking to buy but once I saw them they were a must purchase. Unlike other heels that I own the heels on these boots are very light and do not result in my leg aching from lifting a heavy heel. They are chestnut brown suede leather with strong warmths of red making them rather easy to pair with different outfits.

I am known for "giving in" and experimenting with recommended products. Maybelline Falsies Mascara is one of these products, and I can honestly say that I don't regret the purchase, both myself and M love Benefit - They're Real Mascara and we found that Benefit - They're Real works better on M than it does on myself, however I have found that Maybelline for me has the same effect on my eyelashes that They're Real does for M which is a fabulous result from a highstreet/drugstore mascara at £7.99.

My last item is the Silver ring that I purchased at Camden Market last week in London. (Myself and M have posted daily entries of our week in London below, check them out!) I have been looking for a new ring for a few months and this ring is now situated on my left thumb. I am also a sentimental person and this ring represents the end of college and the beginning of what I hope to be a fabulous Summer before I head off to Uni.

What were your favourite purchases of the month? Do you purchase things in Summer that you know will be best styles for Winter?
Let me know
Have a good July!

Mid-June Favorites

Hi guys, this is just a small post for our mid-June favorites. Hope you are having a lovely June, it means that the holidays are almost here!

There are four new items that I have purchased this June and that are fast becoming favourites of mine.
The bag was £12 from Asda and has a fabulous capacity for the size of it, it is the perfect size for Summer and the beautiful pattern is full of warm colours.

My next purchase is Tony and Guy's Sea Salt Spray at £7.19 for a 200ml bottle, Summer is all about the beach "boho" waves and this does as it says on the bottle, it gives your hair textured casual curls, depending on your natural hair depends on how your hair reacts, using the sea salt spray however does result in your hair being left feeling matted the next morning due to the "crunch" texture.

Sleek Face Contour Kit in shade Light. £9.99 - " The ultimate contour kit with sculpting powder, highlighter and blush/bronzer in a mirrored compact." With an angled contour brush you really can achieve a defined look on your face and the mirror is a good size, it also makes it ideal for travel. The blush is nicely pigmented and the highlighter has slight shimmer adding a small glow to your face. It is definitely a product to purchase if like me you are wanting to experiment in contouring.

The final product is Barry M Glitter Nail Paint at £2.99. This nail varnish does require a strong coloured base coat if you want to glitter to stand out as the glitter segments are not accompanied by a colour therefore do create a brilliant top coat on top of a colour of your choice. The blues and purples work well together and can be teamed with a range of base colours. Like the majority of glitter nail varnish's do take time to remove the glitter however its duration is long lasting with slight chipping.

What are you looking to purchase this month? Are you a frequent user of contour?
Let us know,

The Benefits of Elle

So unbeknown to both of us, we both nipped out on the same day to get this month's issue of Elle, and we have no regrets. Elle is one of our favourite monthly fashion magazines, especially with the celebrity interviews, beauty advice, latest fashion updates, and even a travel section. You'd definitely be hard-pressed to have a reasonable excuse to dislike it. It's like our very own fashion bible with fabulous monthly installments, and beautiful women (apart from the David Beckham issue- although there's no denying he's beautiful) on the front cover, making us here at Aurora Glow green with envy.
This month's issue features the talented Miley Cyrus, and we love it.

The bold outfits she wears in her shoot emphasise her drastic, yet amazingly well pulled off new hair style.

Although we could potentially sit and write about our love for Elle all day, in today's post we are also looking at the Benefit mascara that came FREE (yes you heard us correctly) in this month's issue- okay so we're not completely leaving the Elle topic, but still.

With it being Benefit we had high hopes for the mascara, and were really rooting for it to look as great as it does advertised and we weren't disappointed. Although the results aren't quite as great as it shows on the packaging, it's still impressive.

Above is an image of us trying the mascara out for ourselves. As you can see, there's quite a difference and this was with only two quick coats. We also love the brush! It's a plastic one- which we personally prefer- so coverage was even and it was very easy to apply. We also find that after wearing mascara for a few hours it starts to go bitty and comes off a little, but there's none of that with this- it lasts ages! We're very impressed.

Overall we're extremely happy with this month's issue of Elle and would recommend it to anyone. We love the mascara that much that we will more than likely be buying another when ours run out!

Have any of you bought this month's issue? If so, what do you think?

Grandpa style

I'ma take your Grandpa's style.
As said in the hit by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

So we're all for vintage clothing here at Aurora Glow but has anyone actually worn their Grandpa's clothes? We certainly haven't. But that then gave us the idea- what would we look like if we did? This was a thought we couldn't pass on and decided to try it out for ourselves, so here are some images showcasing the latest trends from our Grandpa's clothes, teamed with vintage and modern.

*striped polo shirt and navy jacket - Grandpa's clothes*

Not all of your grandpa's clothing is terrible, and you could be surprised at what relatives have hiding away in their wardrobes- a lot may be similar to what you find in vintage stores. As we discovered one of our Grandpa's was hiding a designer Ralph Lauren jumper. You could pair it with leggings and even a vintage denim jacket to complete the look.

A well known Youtuber who displays his quirky personality through vintage/thrift clothing is Sam Pepper.

Have you ever worn your grandad's clothes? If so, what items? And more importantly did you manage to pull them off?
We'd love to hear from you!
Till next time
Love,

Coachella

Coachella, the festival we wish we could go to, yet the festival that we (personally) have the least chance of attending. Possibly due to its prices- although the cost is probably on a par with many British festivals- but more likely the fact that it is all the way in California. But we can dream though, right?

(Source: www.fabsugar.com)

This year's line up could make any non-attendee green with envy, with acts including Ben Howard, Foals, The Lumineers and Of Monsters and Men. Then top it off with beautiful weather so there's no getting drenched in the rain, whilst watching your favourite act, to then go back to a flooded tent (not fun). Surely it's the perfect festival?!

Possibly our favourite part of it though is the introduction of this years festival fashion! With magazines such as Elle USA covering it, and many celebrities attending, there's definitely something for everybody.
One key item that keeps appearing in photographs from the event is the straw hat. Bound to be very popular again this summer, make sure you don't miss out! One of our favourites is this particular hat from H&M, and for only £7.99 you can't go wrong!

Have any of you attended Coachella? Or are you going to any festivals this year?
Let us know.
